“…building a career and thriving in his role”
Every now and then we get a beautiful reminder of why Open House exists. Recently, one of our past YWMP participants walked back through the doors, however this time not as a teenager learning new skills but as a skilled tradesman, ready to help.
Jack (name changed) had come to repair a broken glass window and while the task itself was simple the moment was powerful. Years ago, he had been one of the boys learning, growing, and finding his way at Open House. Now, he’s been working steadily in his trade for the past five years, building a career and thriving in his role.
Seeing Jack return, confident and capable, was such a proud moment for the team. It wasn’t just about fixing a window, it was about seeing the long-term impact of investing in young people, watching them grow into men who contribute their skills back into the community.
Moments like this remind us that the seeds planted through mentoring and support continue to bear fruit, even years down the track.
