For Adults

You’re never too old to pick up a new hobby, get mentoring, learn new skills, and make new friends—which is the exact reason we developed our extensive selection of programs for adults of all ages.

Clubwork

Join a friendship group formed to provide support and host activities for older adults who are lonely, disadvantaged, or have special needs. We have structured activities for everyone to enjoy and participate in.

We also help participants not only manage their particular situations and live positive and constructive lives, but remain active within the community. Our staff and volunteers work together to provide formal and informal weekly activities that include cooking, craft, outings, singing, music, workshops, and conversations—all in addition to doing home and hospital visitations and follow-up phone calls to ensure the well-being of all participants.

Community Meal

Drop by on Thursday afternoons for meaningful conversations, friendship, and a hot meal with our regular guests from nearby suburbs. You’ll meet lots of friends from Open House and others in the community here, including a 30-year-plus volunteer.

For some attendees this is their only external interaction during the week, so it is a most important social occasion for them.

Individual Support

The Open House team and volunteers provide a wide range of personalised individual support offerings, including:

  • Visits to participants at their residence or the retirement home they’re staying at
  • Visit to participants at the hospital or other facility
  • Accompaniment to the doctor, dentist, other medical professionals, or laboratory
  • Accompaniment to appointments at Human Services, banks, other organisations
  • Prayers in time of need.

Bible Fellowship

Join the Open House family and guests every Thursday as we praise God through song, bible study, and fellowship. Each week, we have different guests leading the worship and bringing us an encouraging message from the bible.

If you need help with transport, Open House offers a pick-up and drop-off service.

“It is so spiritually uplifting to sing, pray and study the bible together each week,” said one of our attendees.

Community Garden Club

Want to learn about gardening or simply help out with the gardening we do? We’d love for you to join us! You don’t need any prior gardening knowledge to participate. You can just drop by and see whether this is something you’d like to be a part of.

This is a great opportunity for you to make new friends. We always make time for a drink and a chat.
