My time with Open House began early 2022 when I started volunteering for the bus run and backyard sports at Malahang. At the time I was feeling disconnected from Melbourne due to a lack of community connections, Open House was able to provide me that connection and so much more. After a few months volunteering I was lucky enough to gain casual work at Open House’s social Enterprise Café ‘Whispers.’ After developing my skills and knowledge of Open House this casual work developed into a part time role as the Adult Program Support Worker.

My role at Open House now involves working with Wendy Farrington and volunteers to run Clubwork, the adult social program run on Wednesdays and Fridays in Macleod. Seeing how these programs support the members of our community to build friendships and grow in confidence is as rewarding for me as it is for them, and I look forward to coming to work each week to see these programs continue to progress and enrich the lives of the people involved.
